Clarington June 5, 2020/- Oh, Clarington, our Canada Day festivities will be a bit different this year, but the spirit and the celebration of our community remains the same. With the continuing restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Municipality of Clarington has prepared a Canada Day celebration kit for residents to enjoy at home.
“We’ve had to reimagine how we can celebrate our country and our community while maintaining physical distancing. Each celebration kit contains a guide with fun activities and recipes that families can enjoy at home. These kits provide a thread that ties us all together as we creatively look at celebrating apart in the safety of our homes,” said Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster.
The Municipality has put together 1,000 celebration kits. Each one contains family-friendly items and an activity booklet with ideas for fun games, crafts, snacks and much more. Residents can participate by ordering a free Oh, Clarington Canada Day Celebration Kit; for details on how to order, visit www.clarington.net/CanadaDay. Due to limited quantities, the kits are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, with a limit of two per family.
As the Municipality works to #SpreadLove during this time, we also encourage residents to decorate your lawns and share your photos. Email us and tell us how you are celebrating, canadaday@clarington.net. Tag us on social media in your photos and use #SpreadLove. We will share in the celebration.
“Let’s celebrate, Oh, Clarington together but apart. These kits are just one way to link us, but the bond of our community is strong and shines brightly. Happy Canada Day, Oh, Clarington,” added Mayor Foster.
